What do running through open pastures, hiking through the woodlands, exploring a marsh, helping with farm chores, making ice cream, learning to swim, harvesting and eating fresh vegetables, making new friends and feeling good about yourself have in common? These are just some of the benefits that our campers experience during their 10-day stay on the farm! A recent heart warming phone message from two of our Norwalk campers reminded us of the wonderful memories our campers take home with them each year. In the words of Darrien and Ray:
“Shhh” “Shhh” “Shhh” … “Hi this is Darrien…and Ray…we just wanted to call to say that we are sorry we never had a chance to write because…we were too lazy…(giggles)… sorry about that…we still have the letters and photographs you sent us, thanks…we appreciate everything you guys taught us… if it wasn’t for you guys we wouldn’t know how to swim so…yeah …thanks! WE LOVE YOU GUYS AND WE HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT SUMMER…” then a whispered count of “1,2,3… BYE!!”… followed by more giggles!
Please help us to provide more positive experiences for children like Darrien and Ray, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to enjoy life on a farm! Each year we need to raise $40,000 to cover the three 10-day sessions of camp for youngsters from Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury. If you would like to sponsor a child, or if you think your business might be willing to under- write the stay of one or more campers please call Ann Taylor (203) 938-2117. We estimate the cost of an individual campership to be $1,600 – but donations of any size will be gratefully received!
