The best way to view up-to-date readings is with the Davis WeatherLink app, where you can search for “New Pond Farm Education Center” to see our current weather conditions!
As part of the Weather Station Project, we have also installed a webcam on Astronomy Hill overlooking the pastures to monitor the movements of passing weather systems. Please take a live look at the property below!
Our wonderful solar-powered Weather Station is a science and education tool providing valuable daily and long-term data that will be used to plan future improvements to the property and monitor wildlife habitats and agricultural conditions. And of course, everyone can use the live feed to ensure they remember their sunscreen or prepare to bundle up for a fun trip to the property!
On your next visit, please look for the weather station just west of our ground-mounted solar panels (just past the Farmhouse).
The weather station was planned for and installed by members of our Science Committee and led by Meteorologist Patrick Cahill (shown below).
General maintenance will be done by students from Redding’s Joel Barlow High School under the direction of Environmental Sciences teacher Daniel Torv.
