We inspire and educate each generation to become stewards of the land by championing conservation and sustainable farming practices to protect and preserve our natural world.

SINCE OPENING OUR DOORS IN 1985, we have been all about education!

Each year, our talented staff members have the joy of working with over 5,000 school children, both in our field trip programs, here on our property, and in their classrooms. We also share engaging hands-on programs and events with children, families, and adults throughout the year.

In the summertime, we host an exciting day camp for area children, filled with active outdoor explorations, designed to connect them with the wonders of the natural world and our farm. In addition, we partner with Danbury’s Sunsational Summer Program to host a four-week, tailor-made experience, free for children from kindergarten to fourth grade. Our commitment to urban youth, inspired by our founder, Carmen Mathews, has been one of our cornerstones.

Our beautiful 102-acre property provides us with an outstanding array of outdoor classrooms. Our environmental and science-based programs benefit from a wide variety of habitats, including woodlands, wetlands, a pollinator meadow, perennial gardens, and rolling pastures. Our award-winning dairy farm, with its herd and flocks, serves as the stage for our agricultural programs.

The Education Center is supported through annual memberships, donations, program revenues, and grants. Although most of our programs are open to one and all, we offer many additional special events for our Members throughout the year: Caroling in the Barn with the Animals, an Old Fashioned Easter Egg Hunt, delicious Pancake Breakfasts, Birthday Parties, and more!

If you are not a member, please come on over for a visit. We’d love to meet you, give you a tour, and introduce you to the wonders of New Pond Farm Education Center!
