Rain or Shine
Joyful Garden Tour of exceptional private gardens in Redding, CT that you won’t want to miss.
As you tour these unique gardens, we invite you to enjoy the delicious lunch that will be offered at New Pond Farm Education Center.
We hope you will join us for this exciting fundraiser that will benefit both the Redding Garden Club and New Pond Farm Education Center.
1. “Poverty Hollow”
This joyful landscape complements and integrates an English country cottage with the natural lay of the land,
emphasizing the vistas toward a pond in one direction and an open field in the other.
2. “Reddingcoat Farm”
Fragrant blue, pink and purple perennials attract birds and bees on this renovated farm. You’re invited to walk the bridle path, sit on the Victorian porch, and discover the “secret” garden.
3. “After the Storm”
Transformed by Superstorm Sandy, a meadow with countless wild flowers has replaced a once dense forest, and an expansive view over marshland and a 200+ acre preserve has been unveiled.
A greenhouse filled with carnivorous plants is just one of this garden’s unusual features. From a rose garden to a grape arbor, this small lot offers a little bit of everything.
5. “New Pond Farm Education Center”
Actress Carmen Mathews transformed her 102 acre property into an environmental education center and working farm that features rolling pastures, plus perennial, herb and vegetable gardens for visitors to enjoy.
6. “Mother Nature and Us”
We have borders, islands, perennials, annuals, vegetables and a spectacular long distance view. Come and see how, working with Mother Nature, we compose our personal picture
of Redding. We hope that you share our enjoyment.
7. “The Lobster Pot Garden”
An artist’s Giverny. For over 30 years, artist Susan Boone Durkee has created a visual and spiritual inspiration for her artwork on property once owned by Mark Twain.
8. “Frog Hollow Falls”
A 24-foot, man-made waterfall dramatically highlights this otherwise natural woodland garden, which has been certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
