Our property is home to a wide variety of habitats, one of which is the wetlands at the lower part of the property.
In the 1970s Carmen created the first “New Pond” and marsh to “tame the chaotic bottom land” and to create more grazing land. The pond, and neighboring marsh, are home to a wide variety of species- from the smallest diving beetle to the Great Blue Heron.
The marsh is one of the locations used in our Fresh Water exploration programs, allowing children a hands on look into this ecosystem.
