Our wonderful solar-powered Weather Station is a science and education tool providing valuable daily and long term data that will be used to plan future improvements to the property as well as to monitor wildlife habitats and agricultural conditions. And of course, everyone can use the live feed to make sure they remember their sunscreen or prepare to bundle up for a fun trip to the property!
On your next visit, please look for the weather station just to the west of our ground mounted solar panels (just past the Farmhouse).
The planning for and installation of the weather station was done by members of our Science Committee and led by Meteorologist, Patrick Cahill (shown below).
General maintenance will be done by students from Redding’s Joel Barlow High School under the direction of Environmental Sciences teacher, Daniel Torv.
Made possible thanks to the generosity of a New Pond Farm Education Center Member and their Family.
Our Science Committee: Karen Iveson & Bruce Ward
Weather Station Sub-committee: Patrick Cahill, Ray Iveson, Daniel Torv (Joel Barlow, Science Teacher)
Our NEW Webcam
As part of the Weather Station Project we have also installed a webcam on Astronomy Hill overlooking the pastures to monitor the movements of passing weather systems. Please take a live look of the property below!
